From the loping drumbeat of "Randy Described Eternity" to the climactic, watery thump of "Untrustable/Part 2 (About Someone Else)," Built to Spill's Perfect From Now On is an enormous album. While the current vogue for '80s and '90s indie-rock bands reviving classic records is unquestionably part of the broader profit to be made from constant repackaging, Perfect From Now On is one of the handful of albums singular enough to deserve the treatment. Frontman Doug Martsch has since settled for more soporific guitar rock, but then, almost anything would sound a little tired after this one.
