If you don't mind the trek, the Queens County Farm Museum's Amazing Maize Maze is one of fall's finest (and strangest) pleasures. The three-acre stretch of confusion begins with a debriefing (that's "stalk talk," in corn-maze jargon) on how to pick up clues and solve the maze's puzzles; everyone receives a ginormous flag, to signal their whereabouts (gotta keep those youngsters in sight). The best part: after reaching the labyrinth's end, breathless and sweaty, visitors cross a bridge which overlooks the entire course. Of course, from there, the whole ordeal looks so darn easy. It's a tad sadistic, but loads of fun.
