Whether as helper or hindrance, alcohol is known for going hand in hand with literature. To celebrate this notorious partnership, the masterminds behind San Francisco's Litquake festival have organized the first-ever NYC Lit Crawl. Participants enjoy beverages and well-delivered words while visiting bars from the Lower East Side to the East Village and finally on to Williamsburg. Readings are curated by Litquake vet and New Yorker editor Ben Greenman and magazines such as Canteen. The roster of events includes the Restless Legs Reading Series (featuring authors Ayun Halliday and Mary Morris) as well as a version of Opium Magazine's Literary Death Match. Bukowski would be so proud.
