A Great Place to be From

In A Great Place To Be From, a heatwave in Milwaukee has driven some of the town's citizens to extremes. Against that backdrop, the four monologues that make up this two-act play reveal the hidden parts of seemingly humdrum lives in Middle America, from the endearing to the embarassing. Playwright Norman Lasca is effective at dramatizing the minutiae of everyday life, even if his moral messages here are heavy-handed. Most impressively, the performers easily keep the audience's attention for over two hours — a feat too many productions can't manage.
