Performing Arts: Theatre The Glass Cage

The Mint Theater Company's production of J.B. Priestley's The Glass Cage is a powerful reminder of the many good plays that are enjoyed on the page, but rarely staged. Receiving its American premiere, this tension-fraught domestic drama from 1957 takes place in turn-of-the-century Toronto, where three siblings arrive at the home of wealthy relatives to claim their shares of a family fortune. The remarkable cast more than makes up for the play's occasional forays into the melodramatic, and Roger Hanna's spare but suggestive set beautifully frames the space.
