Near the water in South Williamsburg, there's some cockamamie thing called a not-for-profit (wtf?) that hasn't cashed out to the developers razing the rest of the 'hood. Multidisciplinary art center Monster Island houses galleries Secret Project Robot and Live with Animals, as well as Kayrock Screenprinters, studio/rehearsal space Ocropolis, Mollusk Surf Shop, plus ten artist studios. All the doors open for the third annual blowout block party. Kids can cool off in the shade of high-rises, chomp BBQ, shake a leg to the all-day DJs, peek in on artist studios, catch exhibitions We=Trouble or Symbiosis in Exotica, and stick around for after-dark visuals from SPRobot's a/v Squad.
