Bloomsbury novelist Virginia Woolf's one and only play, Freshwater, pokes fun at Art with a capital "A." Staged by Ann Bogart's SITI Company and presented by the Women's Project, Freshwater was originally written as a diversion to be both performed and seen by Woolf's family and friends. Woolf's farcical drama looks back on the eccentricities of a famous group of Victorian era artists, bringing together a photographer, a philosopher, a painter, and a poet — and of course, their lovely, reluctant muse. As a theatrical work, Freshwater is far from a masterpiece, but as a curiosity that offers a glimpse of another side of Woolf, it's irresistible.
