After almost two years of Flavorpill pining, Ida Maria has almost arrived (her album is set for stateside release this spring). On her long-awaited debut, the Scandinavian sweetheart delivers heartily on the promise of her demos, reprising editor-endorsed party picks "Queen of the World," "Better When You're Naked," and the unassailable "Oh My God." New, twee-tinged power-poppers like "Stella" and "Morning Light" prove equally anthemic, imparting tales of sex and insecurity with unshakable emotion. Likely the best (and most radio-ready) spring release we'll see, Fortress Around My Heart renders the likes of Lily Allen and Kate Nash irrelevant.
