The Funeralogues turns a comical light on the darkest moment of the human experience. This site-specific (set in the Church of All Souls' pews) one-woman show has Stacy Mayer exploring a wide range of characters during funeral proceedings. From the more playful delivery of a young girl sending off her mishandled Barbie, to the historical eulogy for three children killed in a Birmingham church bombing — wherein Mayer invokes the cadence of Martin Luther King — the show flows seamlessly using real-life text and raw emotion. Throughout, the effects of death on those left behind are addressed with warmth and nuance.
