The work of famed documentarians in this exhibit — including classic snaps by Weegee, Walker Evans, and Danny Lyon — captures moments where gesture and dress tell more of the story than action alone, and have had an undeniable influence on fashion photography. The connection is so apparent, you'll have to remind yourself that you're not looking at a spread from Vogue or the outtakes from a Calvin Klein shoot. None of this detracts from the works culled by curator Vince Aletti from ICP's permanent collection, but serves to illustrate the continued relationship between photojournalism and haute couture.
