The Chocolate Factory says…

In John Jesurun's intricate Liz One, a fiercely depicted Elizabeth I advances towards dotage, and thereby sets her sights on maintaining sovereignty over her legacy. Enlisting the personage of a rumored bastard child as reluctant henchman, she twists the facts of own biography into submission, all the while twisting verbal knives into side of her ill-begotten son. This is not the only brand of perception that writer/director/designer tackles: An overlay of projected images casts super-size faces of the actors onto screens, shifting our focus from flesh to film. With an able assist from actors Black-Eyed Susan and Benjamin Forster, Jesurun masterfully messes with our assumptions on language, image, space, and media to mind-expanding ends.
