Tim Blake Nelson's Eye Of God is an intriguing, noirish murder mystery set in a small town outside of Oklahoma City that's a cross between David Lynch's Twin Peaks and Thorton Wilder's Grover's Corners. It's told in a refreshingly old-fashioned way and brought to life by a talented cast led by sheriff/narrator Richard Mawe. While the second act descends into melodrama, the play's central question about the limits and importance of faith resonates even with non-believers.
