Sure, some of us like a microbrew to accompany our vintage video-gaming — and for that, we head to Barcade. But to gain a more sober context for everything from Asteroids to Tron, trek to the Museum of the Moving Image for its Behind the Screen exhibition. Not only can you learn about the granddaddies of the arcade and how they came to be, you can also prove your skill (or lack thereof) at over a dozen vintage games. Start practicing now if you ever hope to best the king of Kong.

Check for holiday openings on weekends and Mondays.

Museum of the Moving Image says…

Behind the Screen features artifacts, interactive experiences, one-of-a-kind art works, and demonstrations of professional crafts and equipment, all of which immerse visitors in the creative process of making moving images. Visitors are able to make animations, experiment with sound effects, and dub their voices onto a famous movie scene. Behind the Screen also features thirteen playable video arcade games, among them Ms. Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Defender, and Space Invaders.
