The Metropolitan Museum of Art says…

American painters have always told stories in their works. Carrie Rebora Barratt, co-curator of the exhibition, will discuss how by capturing the temperament of their respective eras, artists featured in this exhibition described and defined Americans as individuals, citizens, and members of ever-widening communities. The lecture begins at 11 a.m. in the Museum's Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium.

This lecture is presented in conjunction with the exhibition American Stories: Paintings of Everyday Life, 1765-1915, on view now through January 24, 2010.

Tickets for this lecture are $23 and are available by clicking here.
