Québécois visionary Robert Lepage's nine-hour epic spans 70 exhilarating years in the intertwined lives of nine characters. The life of opera star Ada changes on a Frankfurt-Montreal flight, causing her to adopt Jeremy and meet future husband Thomas. He's a neurosurgeon who miraculously cures Marie, a jazz singer whose schizophrenic sister is an artist struggling to find truth outside her madness. Unlikely bonds develop between these characters along with Sarah, a prostitute with ties to a famed BBC radio announcer and a recently single detective trying to unload "tango for two" classes as he solves a mysterious murder. The result is a wonderfully full portrait of the interconnected nature of humanity, seamlessly fusing humor and pathos.
