It's an epic evening and lineup for an epic cause tonight at Carnegie. You may not recognize Gavin Friday's name right off the bat — although perhaps some serious music nerds will know his avant-garde post-punk act the Virgin Prunes — but chances are you're familiar with his friends, from BFFs Bono and the Edge to Flo & Eddie and the Wainwright siblings. In between, Joel Grey, Laurie Anderson, and Lydia Lunch amp up the star power even higher in support of the high-profile (RED) brand, which fights AIDS in Africa. Similar concerts are taking place around the world to raise money for the effort.
