Charles Dickens didn't write Penny Penniworth, but Chris Weikel's one-act farce might lead you to believe otherwise. Penny's quest for love and fortune has such recognizable Dickensian traits — a wicked seducer, a crazy old lady, a Ponzi scheme, physical quirks, mistaken identities, crumbling estates, and orphans aplenty — that they are played for and easily receive big laughs. The tireless cast of four (Christopher Borg, Jamie Heinlein, Jason O'Connelll, Ellen Reilly) romps through Victorian London with much enthusiasm and imagination. A performer himself, Dickens would have delighted in this very silly compliment.
