Despite playing with everyone from Chet Baker to Art Blakey, bassist Dennis Irwin couldn't afford health insurance and passed away last year due to a late cancer diagnosis. Tonight, friends celebrate his life and raise money for others to get the care they need. In addition to being a very worthy cause, Playing Our Parts promises to be a show packed with virtuoso players, including groundbreaking fusion guitarist John Scofield, legendary bebop saxophonist Lee Konitz, and genre-defying pianist Brad Mehldau, known for creative interpretations of Radiohead and a recent song cycle with renowned opera singer Renee Fleming.
