Winner of the Palm d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and a highlight of the New York Film Festival, Michael Haneke's The White Ribbon will screen as part of the Variety New York Screening Series. Haneke, who was just profiled in The New Yorker, will participate in a Q&A following the film.
This program takes place at the Landmark Sunshine Cinema, 143 East Houston Street.
The White Ribbon, set in a farming village in Germany on the eve of World War I, is at once a work of shimmering beauty, exquisitely filmed in black-and-white, and unsettling darkness, as the town's strict parents respond to a series of strange accidents and violent actions. The performances of the child actors are remarkable, as is every aspect of Haneke's filmmaking.
THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT.
Tickets: $20, $15 Museum members. Museum members receive priority. Call 718.784.4520 for more information and to order tickets.
