In middlemen, Michael and Stan face an existential crisis when they realize they are the only employees left in the center of their corporate labyrinth. Sharply written, brought to vivid life by the two-man cast, and staged so the audience is nearly in the office itself, this funny, insightful look at compromised dreams is also an extremely promising debut for the company Human Animals. As Stan says, "Being a man is like taking a mortgage. You make a choice about how big you want to go, and then you try to pay it off for the rest of your life."
