Hop aboard a stuffed camel for this four-city ancient trade route, making stops in X'ian, Turfan, Samarkand, and Baghdad. AMNH invites visitors to play along on the 4,600-mile journey, stamping passports, taking in the scent of patchouli, and reading time with an astrolabe. Among its highlights, the exhibition houses a live colony of silkworms and, for the digitally inclined, an interactive tabletop map packed with cultural and geographical information about the region. And, every Sunday afternoon, performances brought together by the Silk Road Project further enhance the historic experience.
