Postmodern dance legends Deborah Hay and Yvonne Rainer reunite on a shared bill for the first time since their Judson Church days in the '60s. For this program at the Baryshnikov Arts Center, each choreographer presents a new work, performed by extraordinarily gifted casts of female dancers/choreographers. Deborah Hay's If I Sing to You contains her trademark element of chance, with each dancer independently choosing to don either a male or female costume moments before the performance. Rainer's Spiraling Down continues the experimental choreographer's relatively recent return to dance from film, although it reflects cinematic influences and draws on a variety of media sources, from sports footage to photography.
