Faces of Tsai Ming-Liang Film Series

1994, 118 min., 35mm.
In Mandarin with English subtitles

Three characters cross paths in a vacant Taipei apartment without ever really connecting. Vive L'Amour reveals the isolation urban dwellers experience despite sharing the same claustrophobic space. The memorable end evokes the sense of ennui and urban decay that permeates Antonioni’s films.

Short post-screening Q&A with director Tsai Ming-Liang and actor Lee Kang-Sheng.

Golden Horse Film Festival – Best Director Award, Best Film Award

“The finest – the most rigorous, the most disciplined, the most fully thought and felt.”—Robin Wood, Film International
