Where Raymond Chandler left off, Robert B. Parker took up. Now, it's Jonathan Ames' turn, as he heralds in the new era of detective noir with HBO's Bored to Death (apparently our era's medium is officially television). Rife with weed and white wine (his answer to his girlfriend's request to stop drinking), protagonist Jonthan Ames, played by Jason Schwartzman and named for the show's creator, places an ad on Craiglist for his services as an unlicensed private detective. His sole training: reading up on Philip Marlowe. Meet Schwartzman, co-star Ted Danson, and creator/writer Ames tonight, as they screen an unaired episode and talk about how Sam Spade's gritty fantasy can help us deal with reality. Uber-nerd John Hodgman moderates.
