The sixth New York Comedy Festival brings pros and rising stars together on ten stages for a week of citywide laughter. It's not all fun and games, though — with over 150 comedians performing, conflicts are inevitable. This year's tough call is between British funnyman and Office creator Ricky Gervais and whip-smart newcomer Mike Birbiglia, whose Off-Broadway show Sleepwalk With Me was a highlight of last year's season. Iconoclastic headliner Bill Maher closes out the festival with his brand of thought-provoking humor that falls somewhere between Lenny Bruce and George Carlin, while Curb Your Enthusiasm's Susie Essman tops the list of acts to catch at the smaller venues.
