The Age of Iron is an unusual look at the Trojan War. Combining scenes from Shakespeare's Troilus & Cressida with Thomas Heywood’s Iron Age (which takes after both Homer and Chaucer), director Brian Kulick presents a commentary on barbarism carried out by two supposedly civilized nations. The noble lovers Troilus (Finn Wittrock) and Cressida (Dylan Moore) remain minor figures in the play's decade-long struggle, one that destroys all except Helen (Tina Benko) and the timeless slave/narrator Thersites (Steven Rattazzi). While Shakespeare and Heywood provide humorous respites, those familiar with the film Troy should feel better seeing Achilles' BFF, Patroclus, here incarnated by a woman (Xanthe Elbrick).
