Liz Duffy Adams's Or,

Or, recounts an eventful day in the life of 17th-century secret agent/playwright Aphra Behn (played by the formidable Maggie Siff). Rather than put on a feminist one-acter, Liz Duffy Adams places her heroine in her very own Restoration bodice ripper. The play's depiction of the era's cross dressing, free love, and general ribaldry is a reminder that sexual and social revolution usually occurs after oppression and legalized conservatism. While Siff is front and center, co-stars Andy Paris and Kelly Hutchinson do bang-up jobs playing the aristocrats and guttersnipe who attempt to keep Aprha from her literary destiny.
