Patrick (Kevin Spirtas) and Jude (Scott Kerns) are in the getting-to-know-you-better stage of their relationship after meeting through the Internet and forming an intense physical relationship shortly thereafter. Yet as they spend their first full night together, those invitable questions about the past, politics, and lifetime commitment become, as the title tells, Loaded. Elliot Ramón Potts' 90-minute play explores each man's discomfort level skillfully and movingly, and thanks to Spirtas, Kerns, and director Michael Unger, Loaded's raw conversation never loses its intimate and spontaneous feel. Ultimately, Patrick and Jude aren't just dealing with lifestyle choices or politics, but the intricacies of the heart.
