Black-and-white photographs practically bleed nostalgia, and Margaret de Lange's gorgeous chromogenic prints are no exception. Her series Daughters was shot between 1993 and 2002, documenting every summer her two daughters spent as children. Though we've been conditioned to question any depictions of children in their natural state (or, rather, unclothed and tarted up, à la Richard Prince's appropriated portrait of Brooke Shields), de Lange's work is both respectful and searching. The images depict the two girls at play in a fantastical reverie of Norwegian summer, suspended in time between adolescence and adulthood. At the opening on December 10, the artist has signed copies of the book version of Daughters on hand, printed by Trolley Press.
