Audience members are invited to support City Harvest by bringing a can of non-perishable food to be donated to feed the homeless. A pre-performance children's workshop takes place at noon on Saturday, December 12.
For 30 years, the New York Revels has celebrated the Winter Solstice, highlighting a specific culutre and its custsoms. As an added bonus, audience participation is encouraged and welcome. This year's Revels pays tribute to the Irish immigrant experience. Taking place on December 21, 1905 on the deck of a boat destined for Ellis Island, the 80-plus cast members sing, dance, and tell stories of their departed homeland, creating light and community on the shortest day of the year. Among the featured performers are the O'Rourke's Revelers, the Wren Children, the Modern Brass Quartet, Irish Step dancers, and Tony DeMarco and Friends.
