What transpires onstage during Circle Mirror Transformation is heartfelt, funny, and wonderfully moving. The setting is an adult drama class in fictional Shirley, Vermont, and over one act, four strangers (and one teacher) engage each other through drama games that may as well double as group therapy exercises. Playwright Annie Baker's characters are unmistakably real, as is dialogue that trails off into recognizable silence. As Baker and her pitch-perfect cast remind us, sometimes it's the smaller slices of life that teach us the biggest lessons.
