Museum of the Moving Image says:
During Christmas and New Year's week, the Museum is open every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with hourly screenings of short films from Pixar, the most acclaimed animation studio of our time—best known for feature films including Toy Story, The Incredibles, and UP. This program of shorts, includes the following:
Luxo, Jr. (1986) In Pixar's first film, a little lamp plays with a ball, but then finds another toy—a very large one...
For the Birds (2000) A flock of little birds make fun of a large bird because he is different—but who gets the last laugh?
Jack-Jack Attack (2005) The youngest member of the Incredibles family seems ordinary, until he reveals his superpowers to his unprepared babysitter.
Presto (2008) A famous magician ignores his hungry rabbit, who decides to perform some tricks of his own.
The program runs 16 mins. and is included with Museum admission. For more information about all Museum activities during this holiday week, click here.
With its ballooning list of all-ages favorites — from Toy Story to WALL-E — Pixar has become the byword for animated excellence. This Midas touch extends to its shorts too, and over the holiday break, MoMI offers a roll-call of its best miniatures. The amusing 16-minute program screens at the top of each hour, and includes the studio's first film, Luxo, Jr, by John Lasseter. Other titles on the timeline include For the Birds, Ralph Eggleston's lesson in comeuppance; Jack-Jack Attack, Brad Bird's extra scene with the baby of the superhero Parr family from The Incredibles; and Presto, Doug Sweetland's sketch about a star magician and his disgruntled rabbit.
