Trade your gloves and scarves for beach towels and paintbrushes this weekend and jet off to Miami, where Fountain's art fair is in full swing. A decidedly indie alternative to Basel, organizers have taken on the cost of transporting artworks, so that smaller, more up-and-coming NYC artists have a chance to shine in Miami's spotlight. Complete with performance art curated by Brooklyn-based Grace Exhibition and indoor/outdoor venues ripe for artistic expression in the sunshine, the event is truly a grassroots experience. There's a public reception on Friday, and a WhiteHot Magazine launch/Filter Magazine-curated music lineup headed by Chairlift on Saturday. Start packing!
