For two weekends, this mini-retrospective highlights a few of the legendary Southern dramatist's most memorable cinematic moments, such as Elizabeth Taylor's electrifying performance as the sexually frustrated Maggie in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958). While the film brushes over the real reason why Brick (Paul Newman) spurns Maggie's advances, the leads' tour-de-force performances make it well worth a view on the big screen. Other lesser-known gems include Sidney Lumet's The Fugitive Kind (1960), in which Marlon Brando wanders into a colorful Louisiana town, and Joseph Mankiewicz's Suddenly Last Summer (1959), a gothic tale penned by Gore Vidal that's filled with incest, cannibalism, and gay prostitutes.
