“Although Hair was written over 40 years ago, capturing the spirit of a certain movement and period in our history, its themes and conflicts are uncannily familiar today. But what makes this Broadway revival (remounted after last summer's Shakespeare in the Park production) so successful is a lengthened perspective on the hippie generation — observing all that has and hasn't changed. While this Hair can be surprisingly somber, underneath it still pulses with the ridiculous and confused energy of youth. This production proves that Hair has always been more than just the "American tribal love-rock musical."”
