Working Man's Clothes' gritty production of Fresh Kills is reminiscent of top-notch TV drama, but with a lot more emotional honesty. Set in blue-collar Staten Island, Fresh Kills focuses on the very married Eddie (Robert Funaro, who played Eugene Pontecorvo in The Sopranos) as he becomes entangled in a relationship with a minor he meets online. Young playwright Elyzabeth Gregory Wilder has received a slew of awards, and this US premiere of Fresh Kills — one of Wilder's earlier plays, first produced at London's Royal Court Theatre in 2004 — demonstrates that she possesses a deep understanding of the complexities of desire and has a knack for crafting candid dialogue.
