The erotic monstrosities of Hieronymus Bosch's The Garden of Earthly Delights meets Giacometti's minimalist haunted-house sculpture, The Palace at 4 a.m., in this exhibition where 24 contemporary artists use those works' imagined-worlds themes as a springboard. The result is a series of mixed-media works that reflect ancient mythology alongside the chaos of the present day. Paul Laster, longtime editor of Flavorpill's own Artkrush, along with Renée Riccardo, have curated The Garden at 4 AM to feature an international gang of contributors, including Louise Bourgeois, Nalini Malani, and Julie Heffernan — artists whose interest in self-conscious reference is tempered by the eerie beauty that bonds this collection.
