Bill Connington wrote and stars as Quentin P. in this one-man adaptation of Joyce Carol Oates' Zombie. A crazed and all-too-real bogeyman, Quentin illustrates his lengthy and extremely graphic crimes onstage with a chess board and mannequin, driving the point home that the unseen is always more disturbing. Delivering Quentin's lines in a flat monotone (except when his character is sexually aroused), Connington gives a skillful vocal and physical performance. Author Oates never shies away from the monstrous workings of this sociopath's mind, but in the end indicts his family, doctors, and neighbors as being the real zombies, who were blind as to what was going on.
