Lisa Kirk's stellar career reached a new high with last year's solo show at P.S.1, but the artist's latest project is her most ambitious to date. Exploring her recurring themes of revolution, commercialism, and public/private space, Kirk's new installation, House of Cards, vacillates between satirizing the market-driven phenomenon of "radical chic" and succumbing to its allure. The gallery is transformed into a cleverly designed shanty, which opens at the back into a well-appointed real-estate office. There, viewers are assaulted with a tongue-in-cheek — albeit very real — timeshare sales pitch: Starting May 1, House of Cards, rebuilt at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, will be available to rent by the week for $199.
