4 Hero's hardcore track "Mr Kirk's Nightmare" detonated the UK's early-'90s Technicolor happy-house rave scene with dark, paranoid breakbeats, paving the way for jungle and the myriad of genres sprung from the hardcore continuum. As a part of 4 Hero and under an army of solo aliases, Dego has managed to always stay a step ahead of expectations. His later broken-beat sound employs the compositional, polyrhthmic complexity of the most arch drum 'n bass tunes, but with a sophisticated, jazzy lean (read: ladies love it). Leroy Burgess brings an old-school disco sensibility to tonight's future funk for APT's My Favorite Things party.
