Unfortunately, most wine events in the city are thinly veiled marketing schemes for distributors to hock their vintages, but the New York Wine Expo offers the public the chance to taste things from the trade-side. Clink glasses with over 170 producers and sample over 600 wines — not that we recommend drinking quite that much. From the Loire Valley's Cab-Francs to the Russian River Valley's latest offerings in Pinot Noir, oenophiles will be in vino-heaven. And as long as you remember to spit, you should leave with some encyclopedic knowledge, and not a hangover.
