ROOMS a Rock Romance may well be the musical for this new economic era. Spare and briskly paced, Rooms has a cast of two — Leslie Kritzer (A Catered Affair, Legally Blonde) and Doug Kreeger (Les Miserables, The Visit with Chita Rivera) — and a seriously hopping five-piece band. Set in 1970s Glasgow, Rooms deftly applies the opposites attract formula to an aspiring Jewish-Scottish starlet and a reclusive Catholic rock musician, following their relationship as it moves from professional to personal. The product of husband-wife team Paul Scott Goodman and Miriam Gordon, Rooms shines not with glitz, but with that rarest of attributes in the realm of musicals: emotional honesty.
