Carnegie Hall says…

Nothing brings together top-notch musicians as quickly as a benefit to "free" Tibet — or in this case to create a cultural center in the United States for its exiled people. This worthy cause is buoyed by an excellent and eclectic lineup curated by minimalist composer Philip Glass. Legends like Patti Smith and Steve Earle, Afrobeat advocates Angelique Kidjo and Antibalas, moody rock merchants the National, and irresistibly tuneful newborns Vampire Weekend are among the highlights during this evening of musical odes to a fallen empire.
