In his latest work, People Without History, Richard Maxwell serves up a sci-fi take on the Battle of Shrewsbury, imagining a post-war England of forgotten dead — and bringing his hallmark humor and unstylized speech to a medieval world with memory issues. On the border of England and Wales, knights Owain, Mendace, and Rhobert stumble upon Alice, who is keen on using her womanly powers to heal their damaged psyches. In a departure for Maxwell, he hands over the directorial reins to Brian Mendes, while retaining the considerable talents of New York City Players veterans such Tory Vazquez and Jim Fletcher.
