Asia Society and Museum says…

Check out the premiere U.S. museum showing of Yang Fudong's Seven Intellectuals in a Bamboo Forest. The five-part cinematic masterpiece depicts the new experience of modernity in China while also illustrating universal themes of isolation and alienation. Neither time nor location is specified, and scenery in this black and white film is alternately urban and rural. The exhibition is on view through September 13, 2009.
