London-born electronics innovator Kieran Hebden (aka Four Tet) has been playing with a laptop since the 20th century, maliciously chopping up beats, noises, samples, and instrumentals. 2005's aptly titled Everything Ecstatic offered an explosion of glitchy hip-hop and a tightly constructed floor bangers. Hebden has been on an avant-garde kick as of late, but tonight, we're much more likely to hear things like the remixes he's pulled off for indie royalty including Madvillain, Battles, the Notwist, and Radiohead. Francis & the Lights conjure favorable comparisons to Prince, Peter Gabriel, and David Byrne, as they oscillate between freaky dance grooves and wailing ballads strung together by the frenetic, refreshingly nostalgic vocals of singer Francis Starlite.
