Florence Gould Hall says…

Choreographer Agnes de Mille is legendary for a reason. Her groundbreaking numbers for shows such as Oklahoma! and Brigadoon helped tell the story rather than hold it up, and her ballets Fall River Legend and Rodeo feature heroines who control their own destinies. She was also a prolific memoirist (Cecil B. was her dearly unloved uncle) and dance historian. New York Theatre Ballet celebrates both de Mille and its own 30th anniversary with Dance/Speak: The Life of Agnes de Mille. For Dance, choreographer Liza Gennaro and favorite de Mille dancer Gemze De Lappe reconstruct pieces that currently exist only in books and photographs. The Speak section is courtesy of actress Patricia Connolly, who'll channel de Mille herself.
