But, if the art world is anything like prostitution, then the three artists featured at Cinders' C.H.U.D.Z. certainly know how to work the petit bourgeois of today's favorite deformed subculture (though they're small fries compared to Hirst and Koons' work on their mega-wealthy fan club). A collage-explosion of lambent quilted patterns are both lighthearted and eerily subdued in Richard Colman's work; Alex Barry's cartoon doodles bring junior-high notebook nostalgia; while Josh Slater's recent images of metaphysical shrines explore architecture, Egyptian deserts, and galaxies along the way.
