Tinariwen are often thrown into the ever-polarizing "world music" category. Manu Chao had nothing to do with the making of this band — in fact, judging by the gunslinging pose on the cover of their excellent recent album, Aman Iman, he'd be in fear of his life. The African band has been compared to the Clash, and their grunge-meets-blues music is worldly in all the right ways.
