Flowers that manage to exist in cement-road crevices: a timeless analogy for nature's resiliency in the face of man, and also, of springtime, which looks like it might finally be here. At Artists Space, three semi-naturalists exhibit their explorations of major themes: on the ground floor are plants, featured in Saul Becker's audio/visual homage to those usually overlooked industrial metaphytes. Ilana Halperin's examination of geological time finds commonality in lava medallions (fast-moving) and limestone casts (i.e. the slow formation of cave stalactites); while Francesco Simeti, known for his decorative wallpapers, focuses on human creation by working with the mentally disabled to create John James Audubon-inspired wallpaper.
